DESCRIBE YOUR PROJECT

Civic engagement means working together to make a difference in the civic life of our communities and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values, and motivation to make that difference. In order to do so we must promote the quality of life in a community, through both political and non-political processes. In order to engage in our community we have proposed our project engaging in a better tomorrow. Our project will unite community college students and future incoming freshmen college students in the community and allow them to become engaged in community projects and opportunities available to them. Every member will function as agent of social change. Our goal will be to enrich student’s educational experiences and provide opportunities to participate in community engagement initiatives that meet social needs for each individual. In addition our project will conduct action oriented research that will make a significant contribution to the community and most importantly enhance leadership skills.

Our idea will be implemented through working hands on with our community college center for community involvement office and the community Youth internship program to provide students with projects and engagement in our community. In addition with the help of 20 Mentors we will guide groups of students towards opportunities available to them. As a member of student government we will involve students and future students more in school and community projects outside of school.
