DESCRIBE YOUR PROJECT

The goal of the Engaging in the better of our community project is to create future graduate students who are committed to being active and involved citizens in their communities. In Miami Dade college along with various other local colleges in our communities have a big population of students who are not involved in their community and are not aware of the various opportunities available to them to engage in leadership programs and become involved. Our project will enable students from different campuses to join us and gather in as a group with the help of the various resources available through us in our center for community involvement. We want to create a blog where we can all communicate and inform all our members of our future community projects and available projects for them to become involved. In addition our project would like to get college students involved in voting and political matters around campus and in our community. With the resources of Miami Dade college and advisors we also want to set an office where students can personally meet and advisor to talk one on one with them to sign up for our different groups. In Our project we will have volunteers help gather students and make presentations throughout the school and post flyers.

Our idea will be implemented through working with the centers for community involvement offices in addition as me a member of the community Youth internship program the director will be handing a hand to provide students with projects that will involve civic engagement in our community. Also with the help of Mentors we will guide groups of students towards opportunities available to them. As a member of student government we will involve students and future students more in school and community projects outside of school. There are various organizations in school alone that are involved in giving back to the community and community projects. Student government, Phi Theta Kappa chapters and environmental clubs.
